With 95 votes in favor, the parliament gave the green light to the adoption of changes to the citizenship law.
Proposed legal changes aim to facilitate the procedures for obtaining an Albanian passport before reaching the age of 18 by talented young people living in Albanian territory, but not only.
The votes of the majority and the opposition in the assembly for these changes were welcomed by Prime Minister Rama who wrote through social networks that the opportunity is created for sports talents who were born and live outside Albania, to be equipped with the Albanian passport even when they have not reached the age 18 years old.
At the proposal of the Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, the citizens of Kosovo and North Macedonia who have the Albanian language as their official language should not undergo a test on the Albanian language and history in order to obtain citizenship.
