The conviction of MP Ervin Salianji has its origin in 2018, when he produced an audio recording, with which he hit the minister’s brother Fatmir Xhafaj, as a drug trafficker. But this report turned out to be a farce, for which the deputy and the other 4 names that were involved received punishments from the court.

In the spring of 2018, the Democratic Party published 2 audio recordings, in which it was heard that the brother of the Minister of the Interior, Fatmir Xhafaj, Agron was involved in the trafficking of narcotics. The case was named “Babalja”, since the witness X of the Democratic Party, who was included in the audio recordings, was referred to by the pseudonym “Babale”.

In the published interceptions, but also in others available to the Prosecutor’s Office, it was Fredi Alizoti communicating with the then chief of the Fier Police, Albert Nushi, about rewards he should receive, and there was also talk of a “big boss”.

Foreign experts assessed that the voice in the interceptions was similar to that of Geron Xhafa, but the expertise could not say for sure due to the quality of the audio recording.

In this story, MP Ervin Salianji has come forward with claims, accusations and reports to prove a criminal activity carried out by the brother of a minister.

The democratic deputy was sentenced in 2019 by the First Degree in connection with the audio interception, which turned out to be a staging, and Fredi Alizoti who staged the voice of Geron Xhafa, Albert Veliu otherwise known as Babalja and journalist Jetmir Olldashi, who worked on the realization of the materials.

Although he was sentenced to prison, Salianji did not go to jail, as he was investigated and judged without security measures, while the sin of a scenario that haunted him for 6 years, he will now finally pay off with 1 year in prison, starting from the day when his immunity goes in the council of mandates.
