The European Commission asks Albania and Kosovo to step up their efforts to strengthen the rule of law and protect free speech. In the reports sent, there is no shortage of evaluations for both countries, especially in the business climate.

The European Commission published on Wednesday the annual progress reports for countries aiming for EU membership.

In the document for Kosovo, it is stated that the country’s authorities remain committed to the path towards European integration, after applying for membership in December 2022.

The removal of visas this year for the citizens of Kosovo is considered an achievement in the report, while the honorable report that the country has with the Serbian government is also discussed at length.

In these points, Albania has advanced over the years, which can be seen in the report for our country with a positive mark in the step towards integration.

Even in the fight against organized crime and the business climate, progress has been made by both countries.

However, the European Commission asks both countries to intensify their efforts to strengthen the rule of law and public administration, as well as to protect the freedom of expression, especially the freedom of the media.

The joint report for both countries is sent at a time when Albania has opened the first chapter for the opening of negotiations, while Kosovo, as a new state, is aspiring to meet the conditions to become part of the Union as soon as possible.
