On Friday, the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo brought charges against an individual identified by the initials B.V. The accusations revolve around suspicions of his involvement in planning terrorist attacks within Kosovo.
B.V. stands accused of plotting attacks using “dangerous and lethal materials” at Pristina Square, targeting the LGBT+ community, and at the Merdare border crossing, as stated by the Prosecution.
The Kosovo Police apprehended the suspect in February of this year.
It has been revealed that the suspect employed potassium nitrate in the preparation of these alleged terrorist activities on Kosovar soil, according to the Prosecution’s findings.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office declared, “Through these actions, the accused B.V. has committed the criminal offense of preparing terrorist acts or criminal offenses against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo”.
Kosovo’s legal framework prescribes a range of penalties for acts of terrorism and offenses against the constitutional order.
Since 2015, Kosovo has also prohibited involvement in foreign conflicts, with potential sentences of up to 15 years of imprisonment in accordance with the law.
