Albania’s former deputy interior minister accidentally fell in SPAK’s nest.
According to the prosecution’s folder seen by Euronews Albania journalist Eni Ferhati, SPAK was probing into another case and just casually discovered that the former interior minister had received a bribe.
In the investigation, it is specified that Voda used her authority as deputy minister to benefit sums starting from €1,000, and material benefits (a cellphone) from Majlinda Hasani, in order to hire a third person, named Florida Beu.
During their communication, it was discovered that Voda had even told Beu that it impossible to secure her an executive post, however pledged to appoint her as an expert somewhere else.
Then, in February 2020, they met at the ministry’s premises and Beu applied for 11 vacant positions.
“There is footage of their third meeting that took place at the port of Durres where she also received a crate of fish as a gift”, it is said in the investigation paper.
According to further verifications, Florida Beu did not win in any of the positions she applied for.
Now, Rovena Voda is being investigated while on “house arrest” as per SPAK’s request.
The former official is accused of exerting illicit pressure on public functionaries.
