A prostitution network in the capital was dismantled this Friday by the Tirana police.
As a result of several months of investigations, 11 security measures were executed, with 8 individuals arrested, including organizers and collaborators in this criminal activity. Three other individuals, among them the network’s leader, have been declared wanted.
As part of the operation, 44 foreign women from Latin America were also prosecuted, suspected of being exploited for prostitution.
According to investigations, the activity was led by 47-year-old G. R., who operated from Colombia and collaborated with 39-year-old E. S., responsible for ensuring the conditions in Albania for the illegal activity. They had created an organized structure with the help of several other individuals, including a police officer identified by the initials A. B.
Measures taken by the authorities:
• Detention in prison for 6 individuals, including organizers and those who maintained premises for prostitution.
• House arrest for two women, including the police officer.
• Three individuals declared wanted, including the main leader of the network.
POLICE STATEMENT:
The Section for the Investigation of Illegal Trafficking, as a result of a months-long investigation using special methods, in cooperation with the Operational Unit of Tirana Police and the Police Supervision Agency, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, organized and finalized the police operation “Orkidea,” resulting in the execution of 11 security measures, specifically:
• Detention in prison for E. S., 39, for the criminal offenses of “Trafficking of adults” committed in collaboration, and “Exploitation of prostitution”;
• House arrest for E. M., 47, suspected of “Trafficking of adults” committed in collaboration, and “Exploitation of prostitution”;
• Detention in prison for Y. G., 33, for “Prostitution,” “Exploitation of prostitution,” and “Maintaining premises for prostitution”;
• Detention in prison for L. V., 23, for “Prostitution,” “Exploitation of prostitution,” and “Maintaining premises for prostitution”;
• Detention in prison for N. B., 27, for “Prostitution,” “Actions obstructing the discovery of the truth,” and “False statements before judicial police officers”;
• Detention in prison for S. M., 29, for “Prostitution” and “Maintaining premises for prostitution”;
• Detention in prison for another N. B., 27, for “Prostitution” and “Maintaining premises for prostitution”;
• House arrest for A. B., 34, for “Prostitution” and “Maintaining premises for prostitution.”
Three suspects involved in this criminal activity remain wanted.
G. R., 47, (declared wanted), led the activity from Colombia and cooperated in Albania with E. S., who was responsible for ensuring local conditions for the prostitution network.
Investigations also revealed that G. R. and E. S. collaborated with Colombian nationals and with E. M. and A. B. (the police officer) to arrange and adapt the locations where the women would conduct prostitution.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the three wanted individuals and fully document the case legally.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
