The National Theatre of Opera and Ballet will stand side by side with the most prestigious theaters in the world this year, dedicating its performances to the great Italian composer, Giacomo Puccini.
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Puccini’s passing, the main works of Puccini will be staged at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, thanks to the collaboration with the “Fondazione Festival Pucciniano” in Italy, a foundation that promotes Puccini’s work worldwide.
To mark the beginning of this collaboration, the top officials of the “Fondazione Festival Pucciniano” have arrived in Tirana. At the press conference held at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, general director Abigeila Voshtina emphasized that this important collaboration contributes to the internationalization of the theater and enhances its artistic quality.
Meanwhile, the general director of the “Fondazione Festival Pucciniano”, Franco Moretti, praised the artistic quality of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet and expressed surprise at the work being done at the theater.
During this Puccini-dedicated year, in addition to Albanian artists, the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet will host many guest artists who have made a name for themselves in important theaters, as well as Albanian artists who have built their careers in Europe.
Thanks to this collaboration, the set design and costumes for the operas will come from Italy with the support of the “Fondazione Festival Pucciniano”.
The first collaboration is for the opera “Il Trittico”, an opera that contains three works within it to be interpreted in one night and involves more than 100 artists, followed by “La Boheme”, “Madama Butterfly”, and “Tosca”, as well as symphonic concerts featuring Puccini’s music.
