Ambassadors from QUIN countries met on Wednesday afternoon with the heads of state of Kosovo, President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Speaker Glauk Konjufca, the Presidency announced.

In a short announcement on Facebook, the Presidency said that the topic of the meeting was Kosovo’s aim for membership in the Council of Europe, without giving any other details.

Kosovo aims to join the Council of Europe in the following months, after last week, the Committee for Politics and Democracy of this organization approved the report of the rapporteur for Kosovo, Dora Bakoyannis, who recommended that the state fulfilled the conditions to become a full member of the Council of Europe.

The Parliamentary Assembly is expected to vote on Kosovo’s membership in April, and if it gives the green light, then the Council of Europe’s Council of Ministers must give the final say in May.
