Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama participated in the fourth Council of Europe Summit, being held in Reykjavik, Iceland.

In his speech, Rama defended Hashim Thaçi and asked the Assembly of the Council of Europe to withdraw the statement accusing the Kosovo Liberation Army of organ trafficking.

“The Assembly of the Council of Europe has a moral obligation to correct every error. In this case, it must withdraw the report that falsely labeled Albania as one of the grounds for organ trafficking by the Kosovo Liberation Army. I cannot stay still in this summit because the injustice towards the KLA and its former leader Hashim Thaçi started precisely here, under the malevolent influence of its former member at that time, the Russian Federation. The president of Kosovo, someone who Joe Biden referred to as the George Washington of Kosovo, is being trialed by a special tribunal established by the democratic world, but supported by a report of the Council of Europe in 2011, which was diabolically sponsored by the parties supporting Vladimir Putin in the General Assembly of the Council of Europe. Totally unfounded accusations of human organ trafficking were raised as part of a criminal campaign to smear Albania and Kosovo,” said Rama during his speech.
