Rama breaks down his second term, new government to be announced next week

‘A new team with champion energy’, this is how PM Edi Rama deemed his new government cabinet that will be announced sometime in the following week.

In his closing speech marking the end of his second term in government, Rama ranked the work completed by his administration, while also drawing a comparison with 8 years ago.

In addition, the socialist party chair, who secured his third term on August 25th, also mentioned a list of dissatisfactions regarding the policies in fields like education and the environment.

Rama thanked his cabinet “regardless if they will be in the first meeting of the new government or not”.

BALANCE RUNDOWN

  • The epidemiologic situation in the country, according to Rama, could worsen during fall and winter. He called on citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible, without differentiating between the companies that produced the vaccines.
  • In regards to the tourist season, Rama said that if was widely different from 8 years ago, even though waste management continues to pose great concerns.
  • According to Rama, being admitted to university today is something a student can only be granted through meritocracy, despite the fact that the current university system is not at the level, where it should be.
  • Meanwhile, he proposed that it is time to increase our attention towards children and raise the wages of our school personnel.
  • In turn, Rama highlighted the importance of the race to save the environment, while mentioning that Albania will soon be turning into a net exporter of energy.
  • Skavica, the TEC in Vlora, the photovoltaic parks in Spitalla and Karavasta, were some of the examples that Rama mentioned as elements that will help Albania become a “champion of the Balkans in terms of energy production”.
  • PM Rama also commended the achievements in terms of our air travel, bringing up the Kukes airport and the competition for the new airport of Saranda and the one in Vlora.
  • In regards to the critic voices around the Open Balkan initiative, Rama said that he felt proud about what had been achieved in the field of defense and foreign politics.
