Prime Minister Edi Rama has extended his wishes to Muslim believers on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

“Happy Ramadan. May your fasting be easy and accepted,” Rama wrote in a post on his Facebook page.

Muslim believers across the country begin the month of Ramadan this Thursday, which is considered the holiest month for Muslims. According to Islamic tradition, it was during this month that the Quran was revealed as guidance for humanity. At the start of the fasting month, the head of the Albanian Muslim Community, Bujar Spahiu, also conveyed his greetings to all believers.

For 30 consecutive days, Muslim believers will fast, refraining from food and personal desires. For a Muslim, Ramadan represents an opportunity for individual and collective improvement, spiritual purification, and the building of a society founded on strong moral values.

During this month, there is also a call to support the vulnerable and those in need, and to make Ramadan a source of peace and hope for everyone.
