Prime Minister Edi Rama hold a meeting in Milan with Albanian compatriots who live and work in Italy.
During his speech, Rama said that the Albanians of Italy are the most radiant example of the Albanian vanguards of the union with Europe.
Rama also said that the Albanians in Italy are the unifiers of the two shores of the Adriatic, our country Italy.
“A hug to everyone everywhere from this wonderful arena where the red, black and tricolor Italian flags testify to the eternal bond between the two peoples that has united a whole sea of history. The Albanians of Italy are the most radiant example of the Albanian vanguard of reunification with Europe.
You, not politics, media, or business. You are the unifiers of the two shores of the Adriatic. You are the greatest power to bring back the old Arberia and the new Albania. Yesterday, this seemed the most impossible thing in the world when you became the carriers of the shocking weight of the historic mission,” said Rama.
Rama also said that Albanians have had a great love for Italy, which, according to him, was not in the same relationship for our people after the 90s.
Rama said that during the second world war the Albanians kept the Italians at home and fed them, but after the 90s, according to him, our compatriots faced great difficulties in the neighboring country.
“An adoration to the point of renunciation of an Italy that in the minds of the Albanians had taken on the appearance of a holy land where the paradise of this world was found, a blind unconditional love that left nothing to be desired by all platonic loves. Albania in the eyes of Italy looked like a TV screen where black lights were running away.
Like when the last Italians were taken to the houses of the Albanians, who fed them and treated them like their family members, until they sent them to their families. Sisters and brothers, I received many messages from Albanians in Italy after the red and black dance in the heart of Greece. On more than one occasion, they told me that when I came to Milan, I should not forget that you also suffered. You felt excluded from a pain race.
Today, democratic states either succeed all together in Europe, or we remain behind in a Europe that today is more challenged since the Second World War. Germany managed to unify without political games or waiting for East Germans to adapt. While the EU procrastinated with the expansion until the Russians showed up with the first invasion war, making Europe understand that it should join an hour ago through the bridges of democracy, not join with the turtle’s step through the bureaucracy,” said Rama.
