Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered his speech at the ceremony for the start of work on the new National Theatre.

He said that the project for the National Theater is a precious milestone for Tirana.

Among other things, he added that the works that have been done in the capital have taken Tirana out of the old framework.

“I had declared war on that building since 1998 when I became the minister of culture and it took a long time. Since then, the necessary steps could have been taken and we could have had the National Theater a long time ago, really, a long time has passed. I believe that for the sake of truth we would not have had this project that we have today. This project goes beyond just having a beautiful National Theater for Albania. This project is a precious stone in a necklace of works that practically took Tirana out of its old self, out of the old chronicle of itself and designed it as a European capital,” he said.
