The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, reacted to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to which the procedures for the replacement of the American ambassador, Yuri Kim, have begun.

In a statement to the press from the DP’s headquarters, Berisha said that Prime Minister Edi Rama threw the diplomat away like “a piece of squeezed lemon”.

According to him, in 100 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, there has never been an American diplomat who has damaged Albanian-American relations more than Yuri Kim.

Among other things, he underlined that her removal would be demanded through peaceful protests.

“I was not surprised by Edi Rama’s statement with spokesperson Xhacka. But in this case, I want to emphasize that we are dealing with a case of a squeezed lemon being thrown away. In 100 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, there has never been an American diplomat who has damaged Albanian-American relations more than Yuri Kim. Her actions and behavior in Albania have nothing in common with the western values of free countries, with the principles and articles of international conventions respecting the sovereignty of a country, respecting the laws of a country, but above all respecting the will of the elected citizens. She carried out an extremely unworthy activity for the representative of a free country, a partner country, and a friendly country.

It has allowed her to call the MPs of the Albanian Parliament against Sali Berisha, bring them in line as if they were soldiers, investigating and threatening them. Her threats and insults to the democrats, like the one about them having to eat grass if they support Sali Berisha, the flagrant violation of the sovereignty of a country by demanding that Sali Berisha not enter Parliament, after he had received the mandate from the vote of the sovereign people, calls to the electorate about who should and who should not vote, her opposition to any convention with threats to the judiciary, these are some of her ugly acts, for which I can guarantee you that if it wasn’t for these two factors: my feelings and admiration as well as my supporters’ for the USA, and the barbaric Russian aggression against Ukraine, the lady in question would have never been tolerated. With peaceful protests, she would have been peacefully asked to leave Albania as soon as possible”, claimed Berisha.
