Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama accused the opposition from the parliament’s podium on Thursday of disinforming the public on the increase of the oil price or energy bills.
PM Rama also compared the concepts of the Democratic Party on the market to those of the Communist Party.
“You tell Albanians that the bill is the highest in the region, that is not true. The energy bill, and everything we have chosen, is to pass from the communist economy deciding for prices, to the free capitalist market. You should have been the market liberalization party, but your concepts seem like the junk of the Communist Party”.
According to the head of the government, oil prices were higher during the time that the Democrats were in power.
“Including the carbon tax, is it true that oil is cheaper today than when you came down from power. In 2013, diesel fuel was 182 Albanian Lek, and gasoline was 186. We choose the free market economy, we live in an open country, which means that it will take in the blows that open countries doe”, said Rama.
According to the prime minister, Albania does not have the capacity to fully sustain itself on energy and be unaffected by the market.
