Prime Minister Edi Rama attended a ceremony honoring outstanding students, where he awarded gold medals for their academic achievements. In his remarks, Rama emphasized the importance of setting an example and recognizing effort as a source of motivation for society as a whole.
“There is no greater privilege than having the duty to recognize the effort and results of people like you,” Rama said, adding that positive examples are essential to motivating people regardless of age or status.
He also offered a simple comparison to illustrate the power of example:
“The example of a neighbor who plants flowers and makes their yard look beautiful encourages us to plant flowers as well and make our own yard beautiful.”
The Prime Minister also shared personal reflections while signing the certificates, highlighting the different realities from which the students come.
“I feel pleasure when I have to sign the certificates, because I try to imagine your lives, your families, how many of you live in ordinary families, and of course that some of you live in families that face real difficulties in making ends meet,” Rama said.
Praising the students’ perseverance in continuing their education despite challenges, he stressed that their success comes from choosing not to seek excuses.
“You have all the excuses not to go to school at all, but the great difference you make is that you do not go in search of excuses, but of success,” the Prime Minister said.
In conclusion, Rama thanked the students for the inspiration they provide, not only to society but also to him personally:
“You are an inspiring example even for me personally, and I thank you.”
