Analysts Andi Bushati and Baton Haxhiu debated during tonight’s Shock over the involvement of Albania’s former premier Sali Berisha in the elections.

Their views differed, with Haxhiu saying that Berisha would “damage” DP’s campaign, while Bushati argued the opposite.

Haxhiu said that keeping Berisha “into hiding” is a sham from Basha because it wasn’t really his choice but that of the public relations department to keep Berisha out of the public eye. Haxhiu described the former prime minister as DP’s “weakest point”, adding that Edi Rama is the only person “that can bring out Berisha in the campaign”.

“Those doing the PR for the campaign, consider Berisha as the wrong person, as someone that will lose votes. DP’s weakest point is Berisha showing up in the campaign”, Haxhiu said.

On the other hand, Bushati agreed with Haxhiu on the point that “Rama is the only person that can bring out Berisha in the campaign” and argued that the two are “similar”, but added that Rama may even be more dangerous than the risk posed by Berisha’s before he lost in the 2013 elections.

“Only Edi Rama can bring out Berisha in the campaign because they’re both very similar. The end of their governance proves that a third mandate for Edi Rama would be even more dangerous than Berisha’s third mandate in 2013”, Bushati argued.

According to Bushati, Berisha does not harm the Democratic Party, but instead, he may “receive even more votes than Basha” on election day.

“Berisha is present in the campaign and my fear is that Berisha will have more votes from Democrats than Basha”, concluded Bushati.
