In the framework of the action taken by the Albanian government to combat the informality of salaries, the Tax Administration has announced that, after a general notification sent on October 1, 2024, 9,000 businesses have increased the declared salary fund by an amount of 1.25 billion ALL.
The notice, which was sent to 130,000 taxpayers registered by the end of September 2024, was intended to raise awareness and encourage accurate declaration of wages for the month of September. In addition, the administration has emphasized the importance of correct statements for payroll, as they directly affect citizens’ pensions.
After this announcement, the Tax Administration announces that it analyzed all the declared payrolls to identify taxpayers who could have hidden the true income. As a result of this analysis, 9,000 taxpayers reacted positively by increasing the declared salary fund, thus contributing more to the state budget.
For the month of October 2024, the Tax Administration reported a significant increase in the collection of contributions, with a total of 819 million ALL, or 6% more than the planned plan.
“However, a total of 37,331 taxpayers have been identified who have not yet reacted to the first notification and who present a high risk of salary informality. For these taxpayers, the Tax Administration has sent another personalized notice, offering them the second and last chance to adjust their wage statements, warning that, if they do not react, they will be subject to control and monitoring, in accordance with the laws in force, and they will be able to face legal consequences”, the announcement of the tax administration states.
