Summer Day celebrations took place in Albania almost across the entire territory. While March 14 created a festive atmosphere in many cities of the country, the Korça Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage presented rare photos by photographer Kristaq Sotiri showing the celebrations of this day in Dardhë in 1932.

The ritual of Summer Day is one of the most popular, widespread, ancient, and original festivals. It is said that Summer Day is a special celebration of the city of Elbasan, but despite this, it is celebrated throughout Albania.

In the photos, women and men can be seen dancing. According to the Korça Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage, the ritual dances of Summer Day are created specifically for this day and are included in an important subdivision like that of dances of the calendrical festivities.

These dances, as an important part of this ritual, have been documented in the photograph by Kristaq Sotiri, precisely in Dardhë, in the village square. Every year, the village of Dardhë, on the occasion of this festival, gathered many people who enjoyed the various dances performed by local dancers.
