Commercial banks in the country earned 189 million euros in the first six months of the year with an increase of 26 percent.
The Bank of Albania reports that loan interest and commissions from various actions have expanded the income in these institutions.
Net interest income increased by 42 million euros, compared to last year, and reached 374 million euros, led by the budget from loans in the local currency.
As for the actions of individuals and companies accompanied by commissions, the profit of the second level banks went to 11 million euros.
Also, the sector registered an increase in expenses for employees, but also for other activities.
Eleven banks operate in Albania, which together have assets worth about 19 billion euros.
For the entire year 2023, their net profit reached 280 million euros, and with the progress of this year, it is expected that the profit will be higher.
