Trade exchanges between Kosovo and Albania in 2023 have reached around 440 million euros.
The chairman of the Kosovo Business Alliance (AKB), Agim Shahini, has stated that this figure is a record.
“Trade exchanges between Kosovo and Albania in 2023 have reached a record of 440 million euros, and this is perhaps the only reason that justifies both the National Road and future investments, including railways between Kosovo and Albania”.
Shahini says that despite politics, businesses, and consumers are at a high level of cooperation.
“At the same time, this shows that despite the cooling of relations between politicians or governments, the people, businesses, and citizens, along with consumers, are at the highest level of relations and growth in trade exchanges”.
As for the investments of Kosovars in Albania, Shahini says that during the summer season, they exceed the value of 300 million euros.
“These are values that increase confidence between Kosovo and Albania”.
Shahini explains that the citizens of Kosovo have replaced the products they previously obtained from Serbia with those from Albania.
“Consumers in Kosovo and Albanian consumers, when they want, can help the country’s economy and production”.
In the study conducted by AKB, it is emphasized that these trade exchanges for the year 2023 are higher than those of 2022.
“Trade exchanges between our two states, Kosovo-Albania, for the year 2023 break the record with imports and exports between businesses, where Kosovo has imported around 326 million euros from Albania, while Kosovo’s businesses have exported around 113 million euros. Compared to 2022 when trade exchanges were 356 million euros, in 2023, it was 439 million euros, an increase of around 83 million euros or more than 23%,” as stated in the announcement made by AKB.
The Kosovo Business Alliance has assessed that despite political and governmental relations, businesses, citizens, and consumers on both sides are increasing mutual cooperation and trust for the benefit of national economic growth.
