Italian Culture Week will taking place, on July 4, in Gjirokastër, with several activities.
One of them is the screening of the documentary film “Red roofs in the stone city” by Brikena Metaj.
The journalist said on the show Good Morning Albanians that the documentary shows the history of Italian constructions in Gjirokastër, from the lyceum built in ’41 to the foundations of the former French lyceum and a good part of the buildings.
“What is emphasized by the specialists is that the constructions made by the Italians are also based on the architecture of Gjirokastër in order not to damage the local architecture. The title of the documentary is rather poetic, to attract attention. Being a city that is known for its gray roofs, contrasted with red to show that within this gray we also have colors. Gjirokastra’s connection with Italy is early and we have emphasized it for a long time, although this has not been very visible in the rest of the country”, she said.
