The requirements to get a consumer loan have increased this year. In the first three months of the year, Banks have provided 9.1 billion ALL.
According to the Central Bank of Albania, compared to a year ago, this amount is about 30% greater, while the total portfolio of this loan has reached 72 billion ALL.
The increase in consumer credit is an indicator of a positive performance of lending to individuals, supported by the good trend of the economy and relatively low interest rates, compared to other economies.
Even according to the survey of lending activity, carried out by the Bank of Albania, the general conditions and terms for loans granted to individuals were somewhat eased only in consumer loans in the first quarter.
Bank of Albania analyzes have shown that consumer credit usually has a procyclical nature, given that it is a credit that supports consumption and follows its growth.
For this reason, the performance of consumer credit can be an indicator for the improvement of private consumption trends in the economy.
Based on INSTAT data, the average economic growth of private consumption of the population last year was about 2.7%.
