As they learn foreign languages, they seem to be damaging and neglecting the Albanian language. Researchers warn that recently the Albanian language is being affected by the unnecessary use of words in the English language.
“It is done to look like a European. We feel sorry because we as teachers do a persuasive job every day, every day in the school banks to help students avoid foreign words, but the constant exposure leaves an impact on them and is sensitive. For example, we have noticed the use of the word impact, I am impacted, it impacts me, while the Albanian word is ‘më ndikon’. They are direct influences,” said Irida Xhura, researcher in theory and literary criticism.
For the researcher, the English language has become a danger for the Albanian language in some cases.
“We often notice in the form of speech that the syntactic construction is not that of the Albanian language, subject, predicate and second participles, but it is a broken order that comes from the translation they have in their mind, so they think the language is in English and then they write it in Albanian,” said Xhura.
The incorrect written of the Albanian language is another problem.
The researcher demands zero tolerance for mistakes, considering the correct transmission of the Albanian language from generation to generation a civic moral responsibility.
Everything should start from the family and the school, which orients students towards the correct use of the Albanian language, but the researcher also suggests the inclusion of a test on the spelling rules of the language.
