In a statement for the press, DP chair, Lulzim Basha responded to PM Rama’s earlier declaration warning everyone that the rise in our fuel prices is a direct cause of the global energy crisis.

According to the democratic leader, Albanians have been faced with the highest prices in the region and amongst the highest in Europe, for the past 8 years, due to bad governance.

In turn, Basha laid out 7 proposals, which according to him should be used to put pressure on the government, so that citizens don’t end up suffering from the greed of the minority:

1 – Removal of Rama tax – 240 ALL per litter of fuel;

2- Reducing VAT tax from 20% to 6% for food items, something that has been demanded in Parliament from the start;

3- Providing receipts and billing the real quantity of products and services purchased by oligarchs, who profit by exploiting the consumers;

4- Subsidizing the price of energy for citizens;

5- Refrain companies like OSHEE and KESH from making rampant and luxurious purchases that has turned them into extorters of Albanian citizens’ money;

6- Restructuring the budget so that it can tackle a crisis that won’t go away with speeches and propaganda;

7 – Provide more money to vulnerable groups and reconstruct the current economy, which has become dependent on dirty money and the monopolies of oligarchs because of the politicians that are currently in power.
