Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced this Saturday that 22,000 Croatian visitors have frequented Albania until July 2023, which is 41% more than the previous year.
Rama shared a chronicle from the Croatian television RTL, where tourism in Albania is promoted.
“The echo of the fantastic success of Albanian tourism continues, and this time it’s the neighbors of a superstar tourism destination, Croatia, where RTL television dedicates an unexpected airtime to the Albanian surprise that is attracting the attention of global media,” Rama said.
“These days, everyone is talking about the European Maldives, Albania, where the sea is wonderful while the prices are normal. It started with an article saying you’ll pay 16 euros for a substantial lunch for two by the sea in Albania, and there you can live a whole week with the money that elsewhere would suffice for three days,” the Croatian RTL chronicle states.
“It’s not Greece, it’s not Spain, it’s not Hawaii, and it’s not Thailand. These are the European Maldives. Surprised tourists are discovering Albania. You’ll travel the roads of Albania for free, as there are no road tolls,” the RTL chronicle continues.
RTL interviewed a tourist who expressed that prices are lower, both for accommodation and even for parking. “Accommodation for one week for two people in Croatia would cost 2-3 thousand euros, while in Albania, including travel and everything, it would cost around 1,000 euros for one week. Perhaps even less,” she said.
According to a travel agency quoted by RTL, a one-week vacation in Albania, including all expenses, requires 850 euros.
Adriana Karuza, a travel blogger, expressed to RTL that “Albania is simply more affordable”.
“We have witnessed that prices in Europe have skyrocketed. Albania is simply more affordable. I can say that two years ago, we spent 730 euros, including everything: hotel, food, souvenirs, and even car repairs. Road tolls were not paid. I remember that fuel was not cheap, but we didn’t have parking expenses,” she emphasized.
According to RTL, the unusual advertisement continues to attract guests. “Due to inflation, prices have changed, but here it can still be seen as affordable. Beaches, castles, and reasonable prices, it seems that Albania has it all,” concludes the RTL chronicle.
