Russian Foreign Ministry has reacted to the voting of Kosovo Serbs in the parliamentary elections held in Serbia on December 17.

In a statement to the media, the spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, says that the Kosovo institutions are restricting the rights of the Serbian population.

“The Prime Minister of the so-called Kosovo, Albin Kurti, continues the cynical blackmail in order for Belgrade to recognize the independence of the province. This is another blow to the current UN-sponsored voting practices of Serbs in Kosovo. While the USA and the EU at every step present themselves as defenders of democratic standards, in this case they turn a blind eye to the violations of the fundamental rights of the Kosovo Serbs. They simply do not want to interfere in this, thus encouraging their favorites, the Kosovars, in even more aggressive Serbophobia”, stated the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
