The electoral race supposed to be held amongst candidates for municipalities, has instead been focused between the two primary leaders of political parties in Albania.

In a communication to the media, Sali Berisha invited Prime Minister Rama in a public debate. Berisha argues that Rama is afraid of letting his candidates speak, as they’re involved in different corruptive affairs.

“Unprecedented! Edi Rama cannot have his candidates speak in studios, because they have stolen thousands of euros through different projects. In these conditions, this is a repeated call of mine. I ask the media to invite candidates and leave empty the seats of those who don’t accept to appear. I also repeat my invitation for a debate to Edi Rama. He cannot come. I will do this, but I’m sure he cannot debate with me. There are horrible corruptive affairs he’s responsible of and I can show documents,” said Berisha during his press conference.

Furthermore, Berisha expressed his conviction that there are maximal attempts to change the will of the voters in the May 14th elections. He forewarned the public administration to be careful with what they do.

“Each electoral criminal will be held accountable until the last day. I guarantee those who commit electoral crimes that they’ll be persecuted for this until the end. I ask the administration to not be part of this scheme. Any violation of the law will be accompanied by very serious consequences. Those who participate in murdering the free vote, will be severely punished,” Berisha warned.
