The Christmas market organized for the first time in Saranda is trying to turn the coastal city into a tourist destination even during the end of the year holidays

It doesn’t sound usual, but Saranda, after the tourist boom during the summer season, is hosting foreign vacationers for the end-of-year holidays.

The festive atmosphere created this year has attracted quite a bit of attention, so much so that the prestigious “Forbes” ranked it among the 15 best Christmas markets in Europe.

“I’m from Canada so this is something different for me, I come from a country with snow and cold and it’s very different here. I chose to come here because it’s warm and it snows and it’s cold there. I will spend Christmas here and it will be very nice, warm and also near the sea”, said the tourist from Canada.

The whole festive atmosphere has moved to the promenade by the sea, trees, lights, playgrounds and 20 wooden lodges with different services have created the “festival village”, which is promoting the city as a winter destination.

As they wait for the number of visitors to increase in the next week, the people of Saranda enjoy the whole atmosphere that has been created.

The people, the atmosphere, the organization and the prices much cheaper than during the summer are making Saranda a different alternative for these end-of-year holidays.
