Serbian President Alexandar Vučić called the Thursday attack near Belgrade, “a terrorist act”. 8 people were killed, while the main suspect was arrested after a manhunt.
“It’s an act where our anti-terror special units had to arrest or neutralize a terrorist. He was arrested and will never see a ray of sun again. He will not be freed from prison,” Vučić said during a press conference on Friday.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown. Beside 8 victims, the gunman also wounded 14 other persons. The Ministry of Interior said that the police is still working on uncovering the entire act.
The President also spoke about the mass shooting in the Belgrade school, as he listed a few security measures the government will enforce, in order to guarantee safety.
“We will hire 1200 new policemen and transfer 1000 others to stay near schools. That is so parents can feel safer. Not only will we increase safety by 90% with this measure, but we will also decrease violence between children in schools by 80%,” declared Vučić.
