The Minister of Interior of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, has not been able to make an official one-day visit to the Presevo Valley, Medvegja and Bujanoc.
Through a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo announced that Serbia did not allow the visit of Minister Sveçla.
As announced in the communiqué, Serbia has not allowed the visit of Sveçla on the grounds that he has held positions and actions against the Serbian community in the Republic of Kosovo as well as against normalization, peace and stability.
Apart from Sveçla, in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is announced that other ministers have also been banned from visiting Presevo, Medvegja and Bujanoc.
– “Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Xhelal Sveçla, on December 23 and 24, 2024, has announced a one-day official visit to the Presevo Valley, Medvegja and Bujanoc.
Despite the fact that all the procedures foreseen for such official visits of government and state representatives of the Republic of Kosovo to Serbia have been followed according to the Brussels Agreement on Official Visits, the Government of Serbia has rejected the request to allow this visit. As a pretext for rejection, the attitudes and actions of Minister Sveçla were emphasized, which, according to the Government of Serbia, are directed against the Serbian community in the Republic of Kosovo as well as against normalization, peace and stability.
Such actions of the Government of Serbia have the clear purpose of maintaining tensions with the Republic of Kosovo at a high level. They are part of the continuous provocations, which Serbia does on a regular basis and with the aim of causing conflicts, where the terrorist acts in Banjska and Ibër-Lepenc are the most visible manifestation of these intentions on the part of Serbia,” the announcement of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo.
