Today, Serbs are expected to hold the “Vidovdan” celebration. The festivities will be held in Graçanica starting at 07:00, and for this reason, the traffic of vehicles at the entrances and exits of the municipality of Graçanica will be temporarily interrupted.
Based on a gathering of Serbs and the tensions that have accompanied the last few weeks, Kosovo police have increased security measures to guarantee order, peace and public safety.
Control and management of traffic flow on all main, regional and local roads.
Engagement of police units for re-orientation of traffic on those roads where there may be temporary disruption of the road or any lane.
The implementation of legal powers and authorizations, in the face of different situations and taking measures against all law breakers, in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kosovo.
The day before, Serbian citizens gathered in North Mitrovica and Graçanica, where a document called the “Vidovdan Declaration” was presented.
In the statement, which was read by officials of the largest Serbian party in Kosovo – Lista Serbe – it is said that the Serbian community in Kosovo is “exposed to violence”.
In the “Vidovdan Declaration” it is also stated that, if Pristina continues with its activities and arrests, the Serbs in Kosovo will be forced to respond to “all those who wish us harm, who dream of war instead of peace”.
“We will be united in our just fight to stay and survive in these areas and to protect our homes and families,” the document says.
The “Vidovdan Declaration” also mentions the Association of Serb-majority municipalities in Kosovo, which was agreed upon within the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue and which should provide greater autonomy to the Serbs in Kosovo.
“The time has come for the truth to be revealed and to say clearly in this Vidovdan: will we have an Association? Otherwise, we know what to do”, the statement emphasizes, without specifying more.
