Over the past two weeks, a series of fires has affected several areas in the Elbasan and Librazhd districts, with at least seven homes burned, leaving several families homeless.
The most recent incident was recorded in the village of Murras, where a house was completely destroyed by flames. No injuries were reported, but the three residents of the home were left without shelter.
Preliminary suspicions indicate that the fire started due to an electrical fault, while the construction materials contributed to the rapid spread of the flames. Firefighters’ intervention was hindered by the mountainous terrain and the distance from the city center.
Earlier, two homes were completely burned in the “Aqif Pasha” neighborhood in Elbasan. During the same period, other incidents were recorded in the Kala neighborhood, Librazhd, Kusarth, and the “5 Maji” neighborhood. In some of these cases, the fires were caused by gas cylinders, endangering residents’ lives and causing significant material damage.
The fire service is calling for increased caution in the use of electrical appliances and gas cylinders, emphasizing the danger posed by small gas cylinders, especially in enclosed spaces during the winter season.
