Sources have confirmed for Euronews Albania that the Freedom Party MP, Agron Cela will be transferred to the Socialist Party, in the district of Shkoder.
But once contacted by Euronews Albania, the latter chose not to give a definite answer regarding the news.
Cela neither confirmed nor denied the news, but did state that he has yet to make a final decision, as there have been several offers from different parties in his address.
Agron Cela is one of the 4 MPs of Ilir Meta’s Freedom Party (formerly known as LSI) to win a seat in Parliament after the general elections of April 25, 2021. He was able to receive 2.656 votes in the Shkodra region.
If he does end up transferring to the SP, the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party is expected to increase to a total of 74 MPs.
Euronews reporter, Eksiola Shehu, said that Cela’s transition to the Socialist Party serves this party’s objectives for the May 14 local elections.
“The most important is the Municipality of Shkodra, which socialists have persistently been trying to win each electoral year”, said Shehu.
