During Euronews Albania’s political commentary show ‘Shock’, analyst Andi Bushati stated that PM Edi Rama has politicized the vaccination campaign by closely attaching it to the Socialist Party’s electoral campaign. According to Bushati, this approach has made many people that don’t share the same political beliefs as Rama, reject the vaccine.
“I am one of those, who think that Edi Rama did a good job by brining the Chinese and Russian vaccines to Albania. In the midst of this crisis, people need the vaccines; So, he did good, and was too late even. My critique would be regarding the personalization of a medical campaign. The transformation into a charade, of a very serious process could have a backfiring effect,” said Bushati.
Andi Bushati also pointed out that “the government should back down and let this medical process unfurl instead of treating it as an electoral process” because until now, he said, it’s clear that “SP has tied its electoral campaign with the vaccination campaign”.
On the other hand, Baton Haxhiu stated that exponents from the opposition have come out with statements against the vaccine. According to Haxhiu, the PM’s campaign is the only way to convince people to vaccinate.
“The only way to convince people is this way. People would be scared to go to vaccination centers if it wasn’t for massive vaccination,” said Haxhiu.
