The best Albanian and Greek films awarded with international awards are shown for the first time here in Tirana, in the concert hall of the Orthodox Cathedral.

Dropulli Short Film Festival has now arrived in the capital. 4 short films made by Greek and Albanian directors are coming to Tirana for the first time.

After winning last year’s edition of Dropulli Film Festival, they come to present their films to the public of the capital.

Two films and two animations that convey strong messages about the moral dilemmas of our society.

The Greek director, Alex Oskura comes with the film “Harmonical Man”. “My film is about a father who takes his daughter hostage because he can’t see her,” says the director.

Vivian Papageorgiou with the thriller “Hansel”.

“My film is called Hansel, it is not based, but rather inspired by the fable of Hansel and Gretel, but without Gretel. is a dark tale about child abuse. It’s a thriller and it was very difficult to make,” says the director.

Albanian winner Jani Zhonga comes with the animated film in the stop motion style, a complex filming technique, in which objects or puppets are physically moved and photographed, to ultimately produce what is the final footage.

It is the emotional story of the monument of the Greek goddess Athena, who, from the war with time, is found without a limb in a museum talking to an invalid girl, who finds her mirror in the goddess.

“It was a huge success in Greece after it was played on the Greek state channel. The most beautiful message I received is from a young mother, that on Saturday the film was shown and on Sunday the child told her mother that we are going to the museum to see the statues, and that was an incredible appreciation”, says Zhonga.

The director of the Festival, Kosta Zhonga, also talks about the innovations of the new edition that will officially start in July, where the next films will be evaluated.

“There should be a little festival, not only in Dropull, but also in Tirana. The winning films of the festival can be found here as well”, he says.

The third edition of the festival will be held from July 3 to 6, where films and animations from Albanian and Greek creators, as well as from Kosovo and Cyprus, will be evaluated.

Innovations will also be creations by children, which will be added to the festival.
