“Haveit” is a group of 4 Kosovar artists, who have received a lot of media attention for their use of contemporary art and photography to convey strong social messages in defense of women’s rights and the rights of the LGBT+ community.

Invited on Euronews Albania’s ‘Good Morning Albanians’, Hana Qena, one of the members of the group, revealed that a photo taken several years ago of 4 young women kissing in the streets of Prishtina has sold for €10,000 euros.

Moreover, she called attention to the fact that this photo has provoked many strong reactions in Kosovo, not only from people on social media but from high-ranking politicians as well.

“We posted the photo on Facebook and that’s when the ‘explosion’ started to happen. We didn’t think that there would be so many negative comments coming our way. This photo came back to the public’s attention because recently, the Ministry of Culture had opened a call for the purchase of contemporary art, in order to promote local artists and their work over the years through a museum. Our photograph was the artwork that sold for the highest price. We sold this photo for €10 thousand euros. Then came the reactions, again, not only from regular people but also from important political actors, the MPs of Vetevendosje (VV) used a particularly harsh language towards us.”
