Snipers positioned above the PM’s Office and Parliament leadership, 1,600 police officers deployed to manage the protest

The national opposition protest scheduled for this Saturday will be accompanied by heightened security measures from the State Police. Around 1,600 police officers are being deployed to manage the gathering, including not only forces from the Tirana Police but also officers from other cities across the country. Security measures include the establishment of a double security cordon in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, the engagement of the National Security Forces and RENEA, as well as the positioning of snipers on top of the buildings of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Parliament leadership.

Since 3:00 PM, several main roads in the capital have been blocked, including “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, “Papa Gjon Pali i Dytë” Street, “Ukraina e Lirë” Street, and “Ismail Qemali” Street, restricting access to the Prime Minister’s Office. The doors of the Prime Minister’s Office have been reinforced, and security forces remain on alert for any scenario during the protest, which is set to begin at 5:00 PM and is expected to end at 9:00 PM.

“This involves 1,600 police officers who will be engaged in this protest. In addition to the Tirana Police forces, there are also forces from other cities across the country providing support throughout the day. Since 3:00 PM, ‘Dëshmorët e Kombit’ Boulevard has been blocked, and likewise ‘Papa Gjon Pali i Dytë,’ ‘Ukraina e Lirë,’ and ‘Ismail Qemali’ streets, which are the main routes connecting the area to the Prime Minister’s Office. This protest has an official notification from the Democratic Party and will start at 5:00 PM, ending at 9:00 PM. Police officers are positioned near the Prime Minister’s Office, forming a cordon in front of the building, while the National Security Forces and RENEA are on standby behind the Prime Minister’s Office. Additionally, snipers have been positioned on top of the buildings of the Prime Minister’s Office and Parliament, the doors of the Prime Minister’s Office have been reinforced, and various scenarios are expected to unfold during the course of the protest,” the journalist said.
