While Erion Veliaj appeals to the Constitutional Court to suspend the President’s decree on elections in the Municipality of Tirana, the Socialist Party continues organizing its structures in support of candidate Ogerta Manastirliu.
Sources told Euronews Albania that Prime Minister Edi Rama will convene Tirana’s political structures tomorrow at 16:30 as part of preparations for the November 9 elections.
“We inform you that the Chairman of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama, will hold a meeting with Tirana’s Political Structures tomorrow, Friday, October 3, 2025, at 16:30. Venue: Hotel Tirana International (Akrenia Hall – 1st floor). Please ensure your participation,” read the message sent to party structures regarding Rama’s meeting.
A day earlier, President Bajram Begaj decreed November 9 as the date for partial elections in six municipalities, including Tirana.
Today, Erion Veliaj’s lawyers filed an appeal with the Constitutional Court against the President’s decree on elections in Tirana Municipality.
“The presidential decree is contra Constitutionem (unconstitutional). The mandate of the Mayor is not a personal mandate, but an expression of the sovereignty of the citizens of Tirana,” stated the former mayor’s defense in its filing.
