A year ahead of the parliamentary elections in Albania, the Socialists will refresh the structures within the party. For this, the leader of the Socialists, Edi Rama, has called for the national Assembly this Sunday.

In the message sent to the members by Secretary General Blendi Klosi, it is stated that the focus is on revitalizing the party within the framework of the tasks left by the December 8 Congress.

Klosi has made sure to remind the members that absences are unjustified and participation is mandatory.

Within the month of March, the selection of branch leaders should be completed, to be followed by the delegates of the Congress, the Assembly, and finally the new leadership.

Euronews Albania has learned that the meeting, which is scheduled to start at 11:00 on Sunday, will be held behind closed doors and that this has been Rama’s own request.

This is the second time since July 26 of last year that the Assembly meeting of this political force is not open to the media.

Besides the elections within the party, Rama is expected to convey messages to the attendees as well.

The last time the Socialists convened the Assembly was on September 4, when Prime Minister Rama also announced changes in the government cabinet.
