The Socialist Party has filed a motion to the Presidency to mandate Prime Minister Edi Rama and pave the way to the formation of the new government.

Article 96 in the Constitution stipulates that the prime minister is appointed by the president after the latter receives a proposal submitted by the winning party, or coalition, that won the majority of the seats in parliament, in this case, the Socialists.

After the prime minister gets mandated by the president, Rama will have 10 days to submit his government program and cabinet to the Assembly.

After getting the green light in parliament, then the prime minister must send the names of his new cabinet to be decreed by the president, within 7 days.

At the Socialist Party’s Assembly on Thursday, PM Rama introduced his new cabinet, composed of 15 ministers.

In a simple calculation made by Euronews Albania, the average age of the new cabinet is 45.5 years old.
