Albanians love sleep so much that they rank first in the world in terms of sleep duration, according to a study published recently by the renowned magazine “Nature”.

Sociologist Edmond Dragoti revealed in an interview for Euronews Albania what according to him is the negative impact of sleeping for too long.

He stated that the main consequence is related to someone’s cognition and system of thinking which is not activated enough when we oversleep.

“We are not so active in our thinking processes because we devote less time to it. In addition, too much sleep prevents us from engaging in daily communication, which we should have with one another and is crucial to our psychological and physical health,” said the sociologist.

Dragoti also added that those who are closer to the equator have a tendency to sleep less, as they go to bed earlier and wake up earlier as well. This is in terms of geography, while in terms of culture, he said that Albanians are known for being a bit lazy.
