A week before the end of the legal deadline to the Central Election Commission to submit the names of the candidates who will compete in the local elections on May 14, the Socialist Party has ready the team it will throw in the election campaign.

As a result, on Saturday, the Presidency will convene with the main focus, the formalization of 61 candidates.

Euronews Albania has learned that most of the current mayors will be reconfirmed for another term. Of the 61 municipalities, only 16 of them are expected to have new figures. In the largest district, that of Tirana, there will be no change in all 5 municipalities. While in Elbasan, out of the 7 municipalities, there will be changes in only 2 of them. In Gramsh, deputy Besjan Ajazi will leave the mandate of the legislator to compete for the post of mayor. There will also be a new candidate in the Municipality of Librazhd, where there are two names in the race, Ermal Kurti and Mariglen Disha. In the district of Berat, changes are expected in the municipalities of Kuçova and Ura Vajgurore, while the rest will be reconfirmed.
