Benet Beci from the Socialist Party emerged victorious from the Albanian local elections and is set to become the new mayor of Shkodra.

His triumph is historical, in a municipality that is known as a traditional democratic stronghold, that the socialists had never won.

“I’m still not over the emotions of these extraordinary days. The citizens of Shkodra spoke, they decided to be in favor of development and change. It is a great pleasure that the citizens trusted us, after a month of campaign, where we spoke about projects and how to make Shkodra better. It’s also a great responsibility,” said Beci in a conference.

He expressed his gratitude towards those who trusted him with their votes, promising he would return that faith.

“Regardless of color and politics, we are here to serve every citizen as best we can,” concluded Beci.
