Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu stated that the leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha must give explanations regarding Lulzim Basha, whom he now accuses of being involved in the Durres Port affair.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Spahiu said that Berisha made Basha mayor, adding that he trusted DP for three consecutive terms.

“I think that is the only accusation that Berisha makes against Lulzim Basha, but these are two people that we have seen very close to each other. I think they were very politically connected. It was thought that Berisha would inherit the political will from Basha. Berisha sold us, Lulzim Basha, as the new potential prime minister. If Basha was involved in a criminal affair, I don’t think his first one was the Port of Durres. Berisha chose 29-year-old Basha as his foreign minister. He trusted him with the DP for three mandates, Berisha must explain when and how Lulzim Basha changed. He was honest until September 20, 2021 and he became a thief after September 20. Berisha must give clear explanations about this,” said Spahiu.
