The Special Court rejected Fredi Beleri’s request for a change in the security measure. Beleri wanted a reduction in the measure than that of prison arrest.
Beleri was arrested for buying and selling votes by order of the Vlora prosecutor’s office, then the prosecution of the coastal city declared incompetence and the file was passed to Special Anti-Corruption Structure.
10 days after the May 14 elections, the Central Election Commission gave the mandate to Fredi Beleri, as a candidate of the ‘Together We Win’ coalition, who won against the Socialist Party candidate Jorgo Goro.
Beleri is the mandated mayor of Himara Municipality. But in order to sit in the mayor’s chair, he has to overcome another procedural link, the swearing before the Municipal Council.
Beleri was arrested 2 days before the May 14 elections under the charge of electoral crime.
