The Central Election Commission (CEC) has begun distributing materials for the elections taking place this Sunday in five municipalities across the country.
A total of 334,539 citizens are eligible to vote in the municipalities of Vlorë, Berat, Tepelenë, Cërrik, and Mat. The campaign concludes today, while Saturday will be the electoral silence day.

In Vlorë, the race is between Brunilda Mersini (Socialist Party), Dionis Sota (supported by the Democratic Party), and Gjergj Nika (independent).

In Berat, Ervin Ceca (Socialist Party) faces Pavlo Shkarpa, the Democratic Party–backed candidate.

In Mat, the contenders are Altin Bojni (Socialist Party), Eduart Brahilika (Democratic Party), and Suzana Pasha (independent).

In Cërrik, the candidates are Florenc Doka (Socialist Party), Eligert Hima from Shqipëria Bëhet (“Albania Works”) movement, and Amarildo Hoxha (Democratic Party).

In Tepelenë, Gramoz Sako (Socialist Party) runs against Gabriel Guma, backed by the Democratic Party.
The newly elected mayors will serve a one-and-a-half-year term, until the nationwide local elections in spring 2027.
