Albanians overwhelmingly support the idea of strong trade ties with Europe and the United States. In the latest survey conducted by Geo Power, the majority of respondents said that the country’s economic dependence should lean toward the West.

Albania stands out for its strong pro-Western stance regarding economic relations with the U.S. and Europe, reflecting a consistent perception of the importance of these strategic partners in the country’s economic development.

The Geo Power report, published by Newton Research Europe, shows that compared to the regional average—where 41% of residents believe their country should reduce its economic dependence on the U.S.—in Albania, only 25% support such a reduction.

This result places Albania alongside Kosovo and Georgia, where the prevailing belief is that the United States is an essential economic and political partner, and that cooperation with it should not be limited.

By contrast, in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine, much higher percentages of respondents—61% and 57%, respectively—support reducing dependence on the U.S., while Serbia and Moldova show more divided attitudes.

When asked about the European Union, the picture is similar: only 23% of Albanians believe the country should reduce its economic dependence on the EU, while 73% oppose this idea, making Albania the country with the highest level of support for continued economic integration with the Union.
