The acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, on Friday called on the international community to increase pressure on Belgrade following the alleged wounding and abduction of a Kosovo Serb by the Serbian Gendarmerie on Kosovo’s territory last week.
Sveçla visited the location where Milan Vukašinović from Leposaviq is believed to have been kidnapped, near the border with Serbia.
It is suspected that Vukašinović was shot and then abducted on November 1 in the village of Jellakë near Leposaviq, before being taken to the hospital in Prokuplje and later to the Clinical Center in Niš.
“Today I inspected the part of the state border where our citizen is suspected to have been kidnapped,” Sveçla wrote on Facebook, attaching photos to his post.
He added that, based on data and evidence “secured by our authorities, it is already clear that by violating Kosovo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Mr. Vukašinović was abducted by Serbian structures as an opponent of the Serb List.”
