On Friday, the newly opened Airport of Kukes will welcome its first-ever landing, a commercial flight departing from Zurich.
The Swiss carrier Helvetica Airline will be the first flight to ever land at Kukes International Airport and it was organized by the Tour Operator Illyrian Eagle based in Zürich.
The return flight will take off on the same day.
Kukes International airport Zayed has a runway extending to 2.2 kilometers and its observation tower has been projected to hold 3 aircraft simultaneously, with a potential of 4 flight departures within an hour.
The terminal is 3500 square meters and has 2 entrance gates as well as a museum commemorating the Kosovo War as a gift from the United Arab Emirates to receive aid for refugees.
The UAE had established a camp to assist Kosovan refugees crossing to Albania after fleeing from war.
Kukes International Airport Zayed is Albania’s second airport and situated in the northeastern part of the country.
